CSM Donald D. Dunnigan was born and raised in Long Island,
New York and entered active duty on 21 November 1984. He was initially trained as an Aircraft Electrical Repairer.
CSM Dunnigan's assignment history includes squad leader and platoon sergeant while assigned to A Company, 501st
Aviation Battalion, 1st Armored Division, Katterbach, Germany; CSM Dunnigan served as an Instructor/Writer
while assigned to 3rd Staff and Faculty Company, Fort Eustis, Virginia; First Sergeant for A Company, 1-10
Aviation Regiment, Fort Drum, New York; First Sergeant for both D and Headquarters and Headquarters Companies
1-3 Aviation Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia; Battalion Command Sergeant Major for 1-2 Aviation
Regiment, Camp Eagle, Korea. He is presently assigned as the Battalion Command Sergeant Major for 2-3 General
Support Aviation Battalion, Combat Aviation Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division.
CSM Dunnigan holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Professional
Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. His military education includes Aircraft Electrical
Repair Course, Aviation Accident Prevention Course, Basic Non-commissioned Officer's Course, Advanced Non-commissioned
Officer's Course, Instructor Training Course, Airload Planner Course and First Sergeant's Course. He is a graduate
of the United States Army Sergeant's Major Academy Resident Course, Class 53.
CSM Dunnigan's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star
Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (1 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), Good
Conduct Medal (7th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with three Bronze stars,
Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4),
Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 2), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), and Kuwait Liberation
Medal (Saudi Arabia). His badges include the Master Aircraft Crewmember Badge and Drivers Badge. CSM Dunnigan was
presented with the Honorable Order of Saint Michael for excellence in Aviation in August 2004.
