Sponsorship
The Fort Stewart Sponsorship Program requires every soldier, Sergeant (E5) through Colonel (O6), receiving an assignment to Fort Stewart, be provided a sponsor, if requested. The program also requires every effort be made to provide a pinpoint assignment and facilitate an advance arrival sponsor for all married soldiers in grades E1 through E4. A reactionary sponsor will be provided for these soldiers if a pinpoint assignment and advance arrival sponsor cannot be provided as well as providing a reactionary sponsor for single soldiers in the grade E1 through E4. Each soldier requesting a sponsor will receive a Welcome Letter, which will indicate projected unit of assignment. Click here for more information about sponsors
Housing
Single
Soldiers (E1 to E5) will be assigned a room in on-post
barracks. In some instances, Soldiers are allowed to live off-post with
special permission. Ask your chain of command if this is an option for
you. Unaccompanied Soldiers (E1 – E5) may reside in the barracks
on a space available basis. No bonafide bachelors will be authorized to
move off-post to accommodate a geographical bachelor. Unaccompanied Soldier
married to Soldier (E1 to E5) with no dependents on separate tours will
be assigned to barracks.
Single
and unaccompanied NCOs (E6 and above) must live off-post.
Housing and ration allowances are authorized. Although you may be eligible
for some assistance from Army Emergency Relief, you should budget your
money now to avoid taking on new debt to pay such move-in expenses as
initial rent, deposits, and utility connection fees.
Accompanied
Married Soldiers with dependents, regardless
of grade, are required to live off post unless/until on-post family housing
is available. You should manage your personal budget so move-in costs
and/or repayments of financial assistance do not cause undue immediate
or long-term financial hardship for you and your family.
Want
to learn more about your new duty station and the surrounding community? A Newcomer's Orientation and bus tour for
Soldiers and Families is held at both Stewart and Hunter.
Stewart's
orientation is 9 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday starting at the Audie L. Murphy Soldier Service Center, Building 253.
A windshield bus tour of Stewart and Hinesville is held at 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday departing from the Soldier
Service Center.
Hunter's
Orientation is scheduled by personal appointment (call 315-6816). A windshield bus tour of Hunter is held monthly on
the 3rd Thursday at 9:30 a.m. departing from Army Community Service, 230 Neal Boulevard, Building 1279.
