Colonel Kevin W. Milton is a native of Lynchburg, Virginia. He graduated from Lynchburg College in 1987 and began his career as a Platoon Fire Direction Officer with the 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Armored Division. While in 2-82 Field Artillery, COL Milton served as a Platoon Fire Direction Officer, Platoon Leader, and Battalion Maintenance Officer from February 1988 to May 1991. While serving as the Battalion Maintenance Officer, the battalion deployed to Southwest Asia as part of the 3rd Armored Division during Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Provide Comfort.

COL Milton spent the next three years assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) where he served as the Battalion Fire Support Officer for 1-187 Infantry Regiment and as the Commander of Bravo Battery from February 1992 to May 1995. From May 1995 to May 1996 COL Milton was assigned to 1st Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) as the Battalion Fire Support Officer.

In June 1996 COL Milton was assigned as a Systems Integrator in the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations (DCSOPS) Force Development Division where he served until June 1998. In July 1999, COL Milton was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) where he served as the Brigade Fire Support Officer for 2nd Brigade and as the Battalion Operations Officer from July 1999 to May 2001. From May 2001 to May 2002 COL Milton served as the Operations Officer for the 101st Airborne Division Artillery (DIVARTY). In June 2002, COL Milton was assigned to the Fire Support Division at the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) where he served as the Senior FA Operations Observer Controller and as the Brigade Fire Support Officer Observer Controller from June 2002 to June 2004. In July 2004, COL Milton assumed Command as the first Commander of the Tomahawk Battalion, 4th Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 506th Brigade Combat Team (Currahee), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). During this assignment the Tomahawk Battalion deployed to Iraq with 4th Infantry Division as a part of the Multi National Division – Baghdad (MND-B) where they performed missions as a maneuver battalion in the Zafrania portion of southeastern Baghdad. After completing battalion command in June 2007, COL Milton was assigned to the Joint Staff where he served as the Director, Special Access Programs (SAP) Central Office until May 2009.

COL Milton is a graduate of the Field Artillery Basic and Advanced Courses, the Command and General Staff College, Airborne School, and Air Assault School. His awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, among other medals.
