Colonel Quintas graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree. His first assignment was in the 3rd Infantry Division in Kitzingen, Germany, where he served as a tank platoon leader, tank company and HHC executive officer in the 4th Battalion, 69th Armor. Following the Armor Officer Advanced Course he served with the 3rd Armor Division as the Assistant S3 in the 4th Battalion, 8th Cavalry during Operation Desert Storm.
From 1991 to 1994 Colonel Quintas served in the 24th Infantry Division, Fort Stewart Georgia as the assistant S-3, and as the D Company and Headquarters and Headquarters Company Commander in the 4th Battalion, 64th Armor.
Following company command Colonel Quintas was as an instructor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the United States Military Academy. From 1998 to 2001 he served as a Test Officer for the Test and Experimentation Command and Operations Officer for the 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry, and the 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas. From 2001 to 2002 he served as the aide-de-camp to the Chief of Staff of the Army. From 2002 to 2003 Colonel Quintas served as the assistant G5, 24th Infantry Division and deployed as the CJ3 Deputy for Current Operations, CJTF-180, during Operation Enduring Freedom.
From July of 2003 to June of 2006 Colonel Quintas commanded Task Force 2-70 Armor, during Operation Iraqi Freedom I and III. In 2008 he served as the Executive Officer to the Commanding General, U.S. Army Accessions Command. Colonel Quintas Commanded the 16th Cavalry Regiment at Fort Knox, Kentucky from June of 2008 to July of 2010. He most recently served as the HQDA G8 Division Chief for Dominant Maneuver.
Colonel Quintas has completed the Armor Officer Basic Course, the Armor Officer Advanced Course, the Combined Arms Services Staff School, the Command and General Staff College, and the Naval War College. He has a Master of Science Degree in Applied Mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a Master of Military Arts and Science Degree from the Command and General Staff College, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.
