Command Sergeant Major LaVander R. Wilkerson entered the Army in 1992 and attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort McClellan, Alabama.  During his career, CSM Wilkerson has served in every noncommissioned officer leadership position from squad leader to sergeant major.

     Command Sergeant Major Wilkerson’s duty assignments include Alaska, Germany, Hawaii, South Carolina, Arizona, and Georgia.  His deployments include Haiti in support of Operation Uphold Democracy, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Saudi Arabia.
     Command Sergeant Major Wilkerson has attended numerous military schools and training courses to include Drill Sergeant School, Airborne School, Air Assault School, Battle Staff Course, Antiterrorism Basic Course, Master Fitness Trainer Course, and the Equal Opportunity Management Course.  Command Sergeant Major Wilkerson is also a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Edward Waters College.

     Command Sergeant Major Wilkerson’s awards and decorations include: the Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal (1 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), Good Conduct Medal (8th award), National Defense Service Medal (1 BSS), Iraqi Campaign Medal (1 BSS), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 2), Drill Sergeant Badge, Basic Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Drivers Badge, Presidential Unit Citation, and a Meritorious Unit Citation. Command Sergeant Major Wilkerson is also a recipient of the Order of the Marechaussee (Bronze) and Order of Saint Maurice.
