COL Sean C. Bernabe graduated in 1992 from the United States Military Academy and was commissioned as an Infantry officer.  Following the Infantry Officer Basic Course, he was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  While with the “White Falcons,” he served as a Rifle Platoon Leader, Support Platoon Leader, and Company Executive Officer.  
In 1996, COL Bernabe attended the Infantry Officer Advanced Course and then joined the 2nd Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany.  After serving for a year as Brigade Adjutant, COL Bernabe joined the “Blue Spaders” of 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment where he commanded Charlie Company and Headquarters and Headquarters Company.  During his time in Europe, COL Bernabe deployed to the Balkans three times:  once to Bosnia for Operation Joint Endeavor, once to Macedonia for Operation Able Sentry, and once to Kosovo as part of the Initial Entry Force during Operation Joint Guard.
After company command, COL Bernabe was re-assigned to the U.S. Total Army Personnel Command (PERSCOM) in Alexandria, Virginia.  During his time at PERSCOM, he served two years as an Infantry Captains Assignment Officer and one year as Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General.  
In 2003, COL Bernabe completed the Command and General Staff Officer Course and Advanced Military Studies Program at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  In 2005, he deployed with 3rd Infantry Division to Baghdad, Iraq where he served as Future Operations Officer for Multi-National Division Baghdad (MND-B).  Upon re-deployment, COL Bernabe spent eight months as the Chief of Training for 3rd Infantry Division.  In August 2006, COL Bernabe joined the “Cottonbalers” of 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment where he served as Battalion Executive Officer.  In 2007, COL Bernabe moved to Headquarters, 4th Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division to serve as the Brigade Operations Officer.  During his 25 months in this position, COL Bernabe deployed for 14 months to FOB KALSU in Babil Province, Iraq. 
In 2009, COL Bernabe returned to Fort Leavenworth to serve as the Director of Academic Operations for the Command and General Staff School.  
In 2010, COL Bernabe assumed command of 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry (2nd Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York).  After 23 months in command of the “Golden Dragons,” he assumed duties as Deputy Commander of 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division.  As Deputy Commander, COL Bernabe deployed with the Warrior Brigade to Ghazni Province, Afghanistan.  He returned from Afghanistan in the summer of 2013 to attend the National War College at Fort McNair, Washington, D.C.  

In June 2015, COL Bernabe assumed command of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.  In June 2016, COL Bernabe deployed with the Black Jack Brigade to the Republic of Korea.

COL Bernabe assumed duties as Commander, Operations Group (COG), Joint Readiness Training Center, Fort Polk, Louisiana in July 2016.  He served as the COG for 11 months before joining 3rd Infantry Division in June 2017.

COL Bernabe’s civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the United States Military Academy, a Master’s Degree in Military Art and Science from the School of Advanced Military Studies, and a Master’s Degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College.  His military badges and awards include the Combat Action Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Ranger Tab, Senior Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Bronze Star with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Legion of Merit with one Oak Leaf Cluster, and Meritorious Service Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters.
