BG David Hamilton arrived to 3ID as the Deputy Commander-Support in May 2016. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and holds advanced degrees from the National War College and Webster University. BG Hamilton also served as an Army Senior Fellow at Harvard University.
His assignments included duties as the Chief of the Army’s House Liaison Division on Capitol Hill; Commander, 212th Fires Brigade, 1st Armored Division; Chief, Training and Evaluation Division, Brigade Modernization Command; Analyst then Deputy Director, Multi-National Corps-Iraq Commander’s Initiatives Group, OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM; Commander, 1-15 FA Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, Korea; Mission Commander, Defense Threat Reduction Agency; Battalion Executive and then Operations Officer, 2nd Battalion, 8th FA, 1st Stryker Brigade, 25th Infantry Division; Exchange Instructor at the Australian School of Artillery; Company Commander, Alpha Battery, then Delta Battery, 1-6 FA, DIVARTY, 3rd and 1st Infantry Division, OPERATION JOINT GUARD, Bosnia; Fire Support Officer, 3rd Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division; and Platoon Leader and Fire Direction Officer, 18th Field Artillery BDE (Airborne), XVIII ABC, OPERATION DESERT SHIELD/STORM.
BG Hamilton’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the NATO Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Senior Parachutist Badge, the Ranger Tab, and British Jump Wings.
