Trophy Fish



Every year, the waters on Fort Stewart produce "trophy" catches! Below are a few examples of trophy fishing witnessed in years past.

  • 10 of Georgia's 45 biggest largemouth bass have been taken from Fort Stewart ponds (ranging in size from 14 lbs. 1 oz. to 16 lbs. 1.2 oz.) between 1992 and 2002! (See the Table below)
  • Bluegill sunfish in excess of 2 lbs.
  • Redear sunfish in excess of 1.5 lbs.
  • Redbreast sunfish in excess of 1 lb.
  • Flyers in excess of 1/2 lbs.
  • Black crappie in excess of 2 lbs.
  • Bowfin in excess of 10 lbs.

Giant bluegill sunfish from a fish population sample from Pineview Lake. These bluegill average over 1/2 pound  each! Where ever you find large bluegill like these, you will find a healthy largemouth bass population.
