CSM Burns-Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Cedric S. Burns entered the Army in
June 1988 and completed his Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) training
at Ft. Benning GA. as an 11-B Light Infantryman. CSM Burns holds an
Associate Degree in Administrative Management and a Bachelors' Degree in
Liberal Arts from Excelsior College of New York. He is also perusing a
Masters Degree in Psychology from Phoenix University. His Military
education includes Combat Life Saver Course; Master Fitness School; Nuclear
Biological Chemical School; Armor School; Bradley Transition Course; Drill
Sergeant School; Air Assault School; Primary Leadership Development Course;
Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course; Advance Non-Commissioned Officer
Course; Battle Staff and he is also a graduate of the United States Army
Sergeants Major Academy (USASMA) Class 57.
CSM Burns' duty assignments and positions include Ft. Campbell, KY (2-187
IN) where he served as an M-60 Machine Gunner and Team Leader; Vilseck
Germany (1-6 IN) where he served as a Team Leader and Bradley Gunner; Ft.
Stewart, GA (3-7 IN) where he served as a Squad Leader, Bradley Commander,
Platoon Sergeant and Company First Sergeant; Ft. Benning, GA (1-38 IN) where
he served as a Drill Sergeant, (2-54 IN) where he served as a First Sergeant
and a Battalion Command Sergeant Major, Basic Combat Training Brigade (BCTB)
where he served as the Brigade's Operations Sergeant Major; Ft. Bliss, TX
where he attended the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy and 3rd
Brigade 3rd ID Kelly Hill (1-15 IN) where he served as the Battalion's
Operations Sergeant Major, (1-29 IN) where he served as the Battalion's
Command Sergeant Major, he also served as the 197th IN Brigade's interim
Command Sergeant Major. His deployments and Combat experience include;
Kosovo, Bosnia; Kuwait; Honduras; Desert Storm; Iraq during the initial
invasion Operation Iraqi Freedom-I and the Operational Serge to Operation
Iraqi Freedom-V.
