CSM Brian D. Harrison entered the Army on 18 November 1986 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma as an Artilleryman.

CSM Harrison served as the Battalion Command Sergeant Major in the 1st Battalion, 321st Airborne Field Artillery Regiment. His assignments include: the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, where he served as the Brigade Fires NCOIC; Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery, where he served as the First Sergeant and Battalion Operations Sergeant. While at Fort Sill he has served as an Assistant Inspector General, Platoon Sergeant, a Drill Sergeant and Senior Drill Sergeant for the Fitness Training Battery.

He has served in Charlie Battery, 2nd Battalion, 319th AFAR where he served as an Ammo Team Sergeant, Gunner, and Section Chief. While assigned to Alpha Battery, 2nd Battalion, 29th Field Artillery in Baumholder Germany, he served as a Cannoneer and Gunner. He was assigned to Charlie Battery, 1st Battalion, 39th Field Artillery, and 5th Battalion, 8th Field Artillery, where he served as a Cannoneer.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2nd OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (3rd OLC), Army commendation Medal (1st One Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal (10th Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Medal (1 Bronze Star), Southwest Asia Service Medal (2 Stars), the NCO Professional Development Ribbon (with numeral 4), Saudi Arabia Kuwait Liberation Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal (2 Stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (with numeral 5), The Valorous Unit Award and The Meritorious Unit Commendation. He has earned a combat patch from the 82nd Airborne Division for Operation Desert Storm, the 1st Infantry Division for Operation Iraqi Freedom II, and the 3rd Infantry Division for Operation Iraqi Freedom V and the 18th Fires Brigade for Operation Enduring Freedom IX.

He has earned the Combat Action Badge, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Driver’s Badge; he is a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club, and a member of the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara.

His Military and Civilian Education includes: OSUT for 13B, Basic Airborne Course, Air Assault Course, Combat Life Saver’s Course, PLDC, BNCOC, ANCOC, Drill Sergeant School, Battalion Staff and Operations Course, Advanced Airborne Training (Jumpmaster Course), Inspector General Course, and First Sergeant’s Course, the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class #56, and has completed an Associates Degree in Applied Science, Administration & Management Studies.
