Command Sgt. Maj. Richard B. Lemke

Command Sgt. Maj. Richard B. Lemke was born in San Diego, California and entered the U.S. Army on 14 February 1989. He completed Basic Training at Fort Dix, New Jersey and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Eustis, Virginia, with the MOS of 67R, AH-64 Attack Helicopter Repairer. Command Sgt. Maj. Lemke has graduated all levels of the Noncommissioned Officers Education System with the most recent graduation from the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy class 58. Command Sgt. Maj. Lemke obtained distinguished honor graduate for BNCOC, and was an honor graduate for ANCOC. His military education includes the Aviation Accident Prevention Course, Instructor Training Course, Training Developers Course, Air Assault School, Rappel Master Course, and the Equal Opportunity Leaders Course. He is currently working on completing his Bachelors of Science with Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.

Upon completion of UFTP in 1990 he was sent to Desert Storm with 2-227th, 3rd AD. He has served as an Apache Mechanic and Crew chief, Technical Inspector, Line Company Platoon Sergeant, and Maintenance Platoon Sergeant. In 1995 he served as a Platoon Sergeant with 1-501st Aviation Regiment in Bosnia. In 1999 he was assigned to Fort Rucker where he served as an Aviation Officer Basic Course Instructor. While serving at Fort Rucker he was assigned as the Quality Control Chief for the Longbows as part of the Maintenance Surveillance Branch. In 2001 he was assigned to 6th Squadron 6th Cavalry as the Maintenance Sergeant and Maintenance Platoon Sergeant, while the Squadron fielded the Longbow Aircraft at Fort Hood, TX. In 2003 he deployed to OIF I as the Regimental Aviation Maintenance Office NCOIC for 11th Regiment. While deployed he served as First Sergeant for B Troop 6-6 CAV. In 2005 he served as First Sergeant for HHC, 1-13th Aviation Regiment. He then served as the Chief, Training Division for the Directorate of Training and Doctrine. Most recent assignment was as the Facilities Manager for the 3rd CAB. MSG Lemke's deployment experience includes Desert Storm, Bosnia, and OIF I.

Command Sgt. Maj. Lemke's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2nd OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3rd OLC ), Army Achievement Medal (4th OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, South West Asia Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4th Award), NATO Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), the Joint Meritorious Unit Citation, the Army Superior Unit Award (2nd Award), the Army Master Aircraft Crewman Badge, the Air Assault Badge and the Drivers Badge. Command Sgt. Maj. Lemke was presented the Honorable Order of Saint Michael by the Army Aviation Association of America for excellence in Aviation in 2005.
