The purpose and goal of the Task Force Lighthorse Family Readiness Group (FRG) Program is to provide outreach and support to all Families of the Task Force.
FRG Programs encourage self-sufficiency and resiliency among our Family Members by providing information, referral assistance, and mutual support through a communications network among the chain of command, Family Members, and community resources.
This is crucial in order to allow deployed Soldiers to focus on the mission.
At its best, the FRG program serves as a means to increase troop readiness by accomplishing these goals:
- Welcome new Families to the unit.
- Assist all Family Members in understanding the unit’s mission.
- Provide social and emotional support to enhance unit cohesion.
- Sponsor briefings throughout the pre-deployment, deployment, and redeployment process that can promote problem resolution and self-sufficiency.
- Provide information and refer Families to appropriate external agencies for assistance.
- Participate in the development of plans for pre-deployment, deployment, and redeployment activities.
- Assist commanders, particularly rear detachment commanders, in dealing with day-to-day problems.
- Assist in the control of rumors.
